States around the country are coming up with initiatives to ensure all students have access to a computer and the internet. Some of these initiatives involve providing laptops for all students in a particular school system. Some say computers are becoming a teaching necessity. Many reasons exist for this new onslaught of laptop policy making. Some agree that laptops for students can close the gap between rich and poor students where access to information is concerned.
